Hello all,
I’m pleased to share that WCCLS is recruiting for a Data Analyst. Find the job posting and apply at the Washington County Jobs site<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/cowashingtonor?sort=PostingDate%7CDescending>.
The Data Analyst will synthesize and analyze disparate data sets, creating insightful reports to help WCCLS and libraries make data-informed and outcome-focused decisions that create more equitable access to public library services in our county.
The Data Analyst will lay the systemic and technical groundwork needed to:
* Analyze large amounts of data, detecting trends and providing recommendations and solutions that will enable WCCLS to increase efficiency, identify opportunities, tell the story of our impact, and improve overall business performance
* Implement evaluation frameworks, data collection, and analysis strategies for WCCLS programs and services
* Communicate the value of public libraries in the county with data that is visually compelling and easy to understand
* Operationalize the creation and delivery of standard reports, custom reports, and dashboards
WCCLS is in the midst of a structured funding and governance evaluation process with our partner agencies, facilitated by a local management consulting firm. For the next year, this position is anticipated to report to the head of the department, the WCCLS Manager, and will work closely with the consulting team on moving this future- and data-focused project forward. The Data Analyst will work collaboratively with the WCCLS Leadership Team to support cross-divisional and strategic initiatives.
Public library service in Washington County is delivered by a partnership between WCCLS, nine cities, and three nonprofit agencies. WCCLS is the primary funding source for public libraries in the county and provides critical infrastructure and support services to link independently operated libraries together into one system for the community. WCCLS’ annual operating budget is approximately $40 million, of which $28 million is funding allocated for public library operations. To learn more about WCCLS and our role as the engine of our library cooperative, visit wccls.org/about.
As the Data Analyst, on any given day you may find yourself:
* Working with stakeholders to build out visual dashboards to support reporting needs
* Leading an internal team at WCCLS to submit our Oregon Public Library Statistical Report and collate data for libraries to do the same
* Meeting with the WCCLS Leadership Team to identify opportunities to bring data analysis to bear on decision-making
* Evaluating current data collection processes and prospects across teams
* Creating efficiencies in data gathering and reporting via automation
About you!
You are passionate about the vital and ever-evolving role public libraries play in our communities and are inspired by WCCLS' vision to create a curious, engaged, and literate community where everyone is welcome and thrives. You are familiar with the type of data sets libraries work with, and with public library operations.
You have the drive to lead the creation of new systems of work in an organization, the emotional intelligence to thoughtfully lead change, and the patience to continue to make incremental progress on long-term goals. You create systems and processes to improve outcomes and increase equity of access, and you thrive working collaboratively with internal teams and external organizations.
