*Urban Librarians Conference 2026 – Call for Speakers*
*Theme: Still Standing*

*Date: *September 18, 2026

*Location: *Brooklyn Public Library – Central, Brooklyn, NY

Urban libraries have been through it. And yet — here we are.

Urban Librarians Unite is seeking speakers for our 2026 conference centered
on the theme *Still Standing*, and we want to hear from the people who have
lived it.

Whether you've navigated budget cuts, advocated for your community's right
to access information, or found ways to keep programs and services thriving
against the odds, your experiences matter. We invite you to share the
lessons, strategies, and stories that have helped you and your library
continue moving forward.
What We're Looking For

We welcome proposals that explore:

   - Resilience in urban library work
   - Protecting services and communities during challenging times
   - Creative problem-solving when resources are limited
   - Building support systems for staff and patrons
   - Sustaining yourself and your work over the long term
   - Lessons learned through advocacy, leadership, and change

Questions to Consider

Your session might address questions such as:

   - What does resilience actually look like day-to-day in an urban library?
   - How have you protected services and communities when the pressure was
   on?
   - What creative solutions have you found when resources run dry?
   - Where did you find support, and how did you build it for others?
   - What have you learned about staying in this work for the long haul?

Session Formats

We welcome a variety of presentation styles, including:

• Presentations
• Panels
• Workshops
• Poster Sessions
Share Your Experience

We're not looking for polished performances. We're looking for thoughtful
reflections, practical ideas, and honest conversations from people doing
the work every day.

If you have a story, strategy, or perspective worth sharing, we encourage
you to submit a proposal.
