Hello library colleagues,
this October, through the Libraries of Eastern Oregon's Bonebrake
Professional Development Fund, we are pleased to offer a two day training
with John Chrastka from EveryLibrary: "*Three Languages of Libraries:
Messaging Across Political Narratives in Rural Communities*." This training
will be held on Thursday, October 15 from 10am to 4pm and Friday, October
16 from 9am to noon in Maupin, OR, about 45 minutes south of I-84 at The
Dalles.
*This training is free, with a small cost for lunch, for any staff at a LEO
member library — but staff from any library are welcome to attend at the
cost of $125 per person plus lunch. *Participants must attend both days.
This training introduces a practical messaging framework to help library
leaders recognize common narratives and adapt their communication
accordingly. Participants will explore how common library goals (e.g.,
access to knowledge, community institutions, intellectual freedom, and
lifelong learning) can be expressed in ways that resonate with libertarian,
conservative, and progressive audiences alike. For more information,
including a detailed description, learning outcomes, and suggestions for
where to stay, please see LEO's website
