Insurance Committee Webinars – Final Session Today 3:00 p.m.

Open Enrollment Webinars for Members (August/September)

This Open Enrollment, OEBB will be hosting informational webinars for members, similar to those we did for Insurance Committees, but with more detailed information for members who may be less familiar with OEBB’s plan offerings and processes. (Based on your feedback, we will also be sure to speak a little slower! But we’ll still keep things short and to the point.) We’ll break the content into small, digestible chunks and make the video presentations available on the website as well as presenting them during the live webinars, so members can focus on the topics that are most important to them and review material at their convenience. We will also host a few webinars just for Q&A, so members who have reviewed the materials online have a chance to tune in and ask a live person their questions without needing to sit through presentations they’ve already seen.

Links to register for these webinars will be available on the OEBB website, along with the presentation videos, PDFs of presentation slides, and additional carrier handouts. The specific schedule is still to be determined and will be published later this summer.

We are also in the process of creating short, professionally-produced videos using actors and animation which will be available on the OEBB website to help explain core topics like:


·         Health Insurance 101 - Explains terms like “deductible”, “out-of-pocket maximum”, “copay” and “coinsurance” with tips to help choose the best plan for your needs



·         Enrolling In and Changing Benefits – Explains when you can enroll in or change plan elections, QSCs, special opportunities available to new hires, and consequences of waiting to enroll in certain plans



·         Who You Gonna Call? - Explains the roles of OEBB, carriers, employers, and providers – who does what, and who can help in various situations



·         Types of Health Plans – Explains the terms HMO, PPO, CCM, and Medical Home, and how these terms apply to OEBB plans, as well as how these plans work and how to choose the best plan type for your needs



·         HSAs and HDHPs – Explains Health Savings Accounts and High-Deductible Health Plans, how they work, and how to determine if they are a good choice for you



·         Planning for Retirement – Explains OEBB rules specific to retirees and helps members get a proper foundation in place before they retire


We expect these resources to be available on the OEBB website mid-July and we will point members to them with our Open Enrollment materials. More info to come!

Scheduling Vendors for Benefit Fairs

Since OEBB is focusing our efforts on more convenient “on-demand” communication methods (as described above), staff travel will be limited this year. We expect the webinars to take the place of any in-person presentations. However, we know many of you host annual benefit fairs during this time and would like the carriers to attend these events. OEBB will still coordinate the scheduling of carrier representatives to attend your benefit fairs. Please use the following link to submit your Benefit Fair requests online:
