Exempts LPCs and LMFTs from punitive damages if LPC or LMFT was acting
within his or her scope of practice. This bill was developed by COPACT
and sponsored by Rep. Peter Buckley.
 
 
HB 3519,

House Health Care Committee, Capitol Hearing Room D
 
This bill prohibits civil lawsuits against health care providers until
after the claim is submitted to a medical legal panel.  Costs for the
panels would be set by the Chief Justice and paid by licensees.
 
 
Other legislation of interest
 
HB 3028:  Prohibits discrimination in insurance reimbursement paid to
specific providers
SB 97:  Requires health care licensees to complete continuing education
in cultural competency
SB 96:  Requires health licensing boards to collect workforce data and
submit it to the Oregon Health Authority.  The Health Authority would
charge licensees to analyze the data. The current cost is $5 per
licensee per year.
HB 2404A:  Provides tax credit for providing mental health services to
veterans.
