[oblpct] Legislation affecting LPCs and LMFTs

You may be interested in the following, which if passed, will
potentially affect LPCs and LMFTs.  Both bills are scheduled for hearing
on Monday May 21 in the same committee.
 
Bill Numbers: SB 97 and SB 225
Committee: Senate Health Care, Human Services and Rural Health Policy 
 
Date: Mon, Mar 21, 2011
Time: 3 PM
Location: Capitol Hearing Room A
 
SB 97 directs certain health professional regulatory boards to adopt
rules by January 1, 2014, requiring licensees to document participation
in continuing education opportunities relating to cultural competency
approved by Oregon Health Authority. 
 
Requires Health Authority to collaborate with boards to define "cultural
competency," develop list of approved continuing education
opportunities, and provide list to boards on or before January 1, 2013. 
Declares emergency, effective on passage.
 
 
 
SB 225 permits legislative committee considering proposals to modify
scope of practice of licensed health care professions to request that
Oregon Health Authority convene scope of practice review panel to make
recommendations to Legislative Assembly on proposal.
