1. The website address for information about Oregon Main Street has
changed. We can now be found at:

www.oregonheritage.org

We've updated our "tier" information, including our handbook and info
sheet on services. We have also just added the handouts and
presentations from the Oregon Main Street conference. Coming soon are
one-page "Success Story" info sheets featuring award-winning projects
and just plain good ideas from around the state. Overtime, we plan on
adding sample documents and other frequently requested material.

2. "Diamonds in the Rough" grant program. We sent out information
yesterday on a brand new grant opportunity through the State Historic
Preservation Office to restore or reconstruct heavily altered building
facades, with the emphasis in historic downtown districts. There is a
short deadline...January 27, 2012...so don't miss out on this
opportunity! Visit www.oregonheritage.org for application forms. For
additional info or discuss specific projects, contact Kuri Gill, Grants
and Outreach Coordinator, at 503.986.0685 or kuri.gill at state.or.us.

3. "Field Guide to Local Preservationists: Who They Are, What They Do,
and How to Win Their Support" - Attached please find a new publication
by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This is an really
interesting read and might be of use to you

The Trust "conducted extensive research into who else out there is
passionate about preservation, who understands its power and its
importance in our society, and who can join the movement to increase our
visibility and strengthen our voice. This research indicated there are
several segments of people with varying degrees of preservation
participation. There is one new group in particular that is critical to
the future of preservation—roughly 15 million people across the country
who are regularly engaged in multiple preservation related activities
(volunteered, attended a town meeting, signed a petition, etc.), yet may
not consider themselves preservationists. They are an untapped,
incredible resource.
We are calling them “Local Preservationists.”"
