Not quite correct, Anne. The RootsWeb lists default is "reply to sender," 
but each list admin has the choice of changing that to "reply to list," 
depending on which choice she or he feels is best for the list. I happen to 
feel "reply to list" is the only way to go, but there are some valid 
reasons for leaving "reply to sender." I can't think of what they are right 
now <g>, but a check of RootsWeb Liststowners archives would reveal ongoing 
discussion on this issue.

However, even choosing "reply to list" will not overwrite the settings a 
subscriber may have set in his or her own email program. In other words, if 
someone has entered a "reply to" address in his or her own email program, 
even if the admin has chosen "reply to list" the email program will force a 
reply to whatever is entered as the "reply to" address.  I don't know 
whether that is also the case at OR-Roots, but it's a possibility that's 
part of what's at work here.
