Jean, I see Isaac Arnold's mother was a Noel, or am I reading that
wrong? "his parents Thomas and Margaret Noel Arnold" If Noel is not
Margaret's maiden name, then the rest of my question is meaningless.
However, I will proceed with the notion that Margaret was a Noel.
Some of the Noel's are connected to the Powells. Rachel Powell, sister
of the Reverend Joab Powell, married James Noel, son of John Noel and
Sallie Tatum. They remained in Jackson County, Missouri when most of
the Powells and their related families emigrated to Oregon. James and
Rachel Noel had about 14 children, one of which was a daughter named
Margaret, born in 1850. Obviously this Margaret is not the one who
married Thomas Arnold (she married David Thompson Mayes), but it does
indicate that Margaret was a name given to daughters in the Noel
family. (Okay, okay. . . Margaret is such a common name that just
about any family had one.)
But here is the point, can any connection be made between your Margaret
Noel Arnold and the John and Sallie Tatum Noel family?
