You can go into Internet Explorer (Tools, internet options, security, *
custom level* and set all active x to prompt)) this sets it for the web
pages and also for the mail, since a virus and Pop ups run on scripts, this
will give you a box to chose to let active x to run or not, it will simply
stop ALL pop ups and most virus threats in e-mail by choosing NO, on some
websites you ( know are safe) then choose YES, as in Windows update etc, in
OE , some websites like Msoft and others that are safe just wont run unless
you choose Ok, but on most websites like Yahoo will stop all the adds and
pop ups, dont hurt to set cookies to prompt while in there.
Your choice, but I use it , and have always used it, works great and you
always now when a script is trying to run. This is not something that is
controlled by AV or a fire wall.
