[or-roots] message from List Mom

Oh, what short memories we have these days!   But, I bet we can all remember what our fourth grade
teacher's name was <G>

Here is a note List-mom Layne sent us a mere three weeks ago.

Suggest all wishing to "unsubscribe" read it.

And, the rest of us, print it out.  I had to run a search to find it myself. Please note particularly the
part about the Roots-web list.  Some people may belong to that list, and it will surely cause problems if
you are using or-roots procedures to unsubscribe from that list.

Also suggest, given the method mentioned, that you give List-Mom Layne a chance to actually unsubscribe
you.  It doesn't appear to be automatic as it is with other "request" type addresses. This flurry has
happened over a three day weekend.  By tomorrow all of you will be gone.

And, I for one, won't miss the PERSON WHO CAN'T FIND THE CAPS LOCK KEY <G>

Second I was asked to clarify the subscribe/unsubscribe procedure for this
list.  I know many people on this list may also subscribe to the Rootsweb
Oregon Genealogy list.  (In fact if you ever feel like you may have missed
some of the messages for a particular thread, it may be because somebody is
responding to a post on the other list but has the message going to both of
the lists.)  There are times this happens to me and I have to double check
that I am not drinking decaf.  

So when you need to subscribe or unsubscribe send an email message to:


or-roots at sosinet.sos.state.or.us 
 
In the message ***subject*** put either
"subscribe" (for regular version--without the quotes) or "subscribe digest"
(for the digest version--without the quotes).

You can also change you account to "no mail" if you are going to be away on
vacation and just want to suspend the list rather than unsubscribe altogether.
