I totally agree about the family History, when My Dad retired in 1982, I
decided I was going to travel to find out about our family, Dad couldn't
even remember his grandparents names, like he said, it was grandpa and
grandma. SO I decided to Pay Mom and Dad's way and Dad do all the driving,
and we went all over Eastern Ore where the family settled and homesteaded
and went to all the Cemeteries and Mom and Dad both got into the researching
of the History, and did we ever have fun and did we ever find out the family
info, and the family reunions started after that every year. What fun we
had and I am so pleased I was able to spend that special time with My Mom
and Dad, and have such wonderful memories, and so many wonderful Pictures.
as my Dad passed away just a few years after that.
So it just goes to show you never know and what a joy to have the memories
now to talk about and all the pictures I can show the neices and nephews of
the fun we had and Grandpa and Grandma helped me put the family history
together.

When I told my Great Uncle Bill we was going by his place in Milton
FreeWater, he had stack after stack of Pictures he let
me make copies of our ancestors and families.. Was I ever a happy Gr Niece
..

Now I am putting it all on CD and giving it family Members and they are so
amazed of what I have gathered over the last 22 years, had no idea what is
out there to find.

Take care All..
My Hats off to you Retired Military People that I see on here.. wonderful
!!

Subject: [or-roots] Personal History

A little over a year ago I started wandering about my Grandfather Goodman,
and what his given name was. He Died when I wea about 5 years old. My Mother
and my Dad told me very little about my ancestors. That is why I got into
this Genealogy Stuff. I wish my Mom and Dad had told me more about their
life and Grand mothers and fathers. But they didn't.
In some things I have read There Is the recomendation to write a Personal
History of one's self, so that your children and grandchildren etc know
their Family History.

I've pretty well finishd mine, although it will remain a work in progress
for some timwe yet. So far about 25 pages.

Just thought I'd throw that in for comment.
