Jumping out of the shadows....
Off th top of my head I don't know where Cooley fits in; Capt. James Blakely and his uncle Hugh Leeper Brown had a General Store in Brownsville (Oregon).

Maxine,
You said your roses were from Cooleys. As in the Brownsville Cooleys? Every time my sister and I go into the Brownsville Museum and the volunteers in there hear us laughing, they say they can always tell when descendants of Capt Blakely or the Cooleys are in there because they LAUGH all the time. As I recall there was a lot of interaction between the two families. Weren't they partners is a general store or something? I have it somewhere, but I'll bet Cecil will jump out of the shadows and tell us from right off the top of his head!
<G> Thanks, Midge
