[or-roots] Powell - butte

Powell Butte was not named after anyoone in my POWELL line. I have a vague
memory of reading about it in a book I found, I think, at the BCGS library
in Philomath. I believe it was from the POWELL line that was part of J. B.
B. POWELL's family. He was a well known circuit riding preacher that settled
in the Willamette Valley. There were a bunch of POWELL's that settled in the
Gresham area as well. I think they were all part of J. B. B. POWELL's
family, but don't take my word for it. I do remember reading that he had 12
or 13 kids and each one of them was just about as prolific, so everytime I
come across a POWELL that is north of Harrisburg, I just assume it must be
part of his family until proven otherwise. My POWELL line initially settled
in Linn and Benton counties and then drifted south from there to Lane,
Douglas, Josephine, and Jackson counties. Some of them even went on down to
Alameda County, CA for a while and then came back up to Oregon (naturally!
it's the best!).
