LCVPs are 31 ft. and LCMs are 50 LCM-8s I think are 60 ft. I used to be
engineer on the boats and did a lot of taking the wheel when the Coxswain was
sleeping. I loved the twin engine LCMs they were fum to operate.

When we were in the big blow no one allowed on deck the Capt. wanted to turn
around because we heading in the same direction as the storm and would have
stayed right with it had we not changed course.
The big guys said that we couldn't do it but the Capt. said we had to so he
got the horn asked us say a prayer, we took a 48 degree roll doing that turn
and a wave that slammed us on the low side was all that kept the ship from
going clear over.
Like you us kids on the ship thought it was fun the older guys were doing
all the worrying for us.
Boy you guys better shut up or this going to turn into a Navy list.
