[or-roots] Fried apples

Many of the pioneers brought with them fruit trees when they crossed the country to the Oregon Territory, and Johnny Appleseed wasn't the only one who did this.  J. Shea had a pretty good orchard on his property near Foster.  My father bought what was left of his homestead in 1943; this included that orchard.

We enjoyed many meals that were fried apples, and not much else.
