I went looking for USGLO records on line again today (see discussion of
Hershberger Mtn.) and had no luck finding them so fires of a whine to BLM,
and here is the reply I got. I akm not sure what is meant by specific
requests, but am pretty sure you should at least have an idea of where the
homestead was and a specific name to look for, which is a bummer since I
found a lot of interesting things by fishing, including a couple possible
relatives because I used a common surname in my family and turned up people
I didn't have in my file but who, on closer inspection, I was able to link
to family.

Many BLM web sites, including the GLO Land Patent Records site, are offline
while we reengineer our Web infrastructure.

We are hopeful we will have the rest of our sites back up in the near
future but have no firm date set for reconnection.

The GLO Land Patents Records staff may be reached at records at es.blm.gov or
703-440-1600 -- they can assist you with any specific requests.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
