[or-roots] Huh? 60 years ago

While working as an insurance adjuster, we had a fellow on the property damage
desk who, as I, was from Oregon. He and a friend made their lab money by collecting
rattlers when it was cold. One particular deary day, after a good catch, they stopped
for a brew at a local beer hall. When they came out, his 1936 Ford sedan was gone.
So, he called the Oregon State Police, and they had his car. It had been found on
a snowy highway, engine runing and both front doors wide open. It seemed the
thief had turned on the heater, and the little fellers in the gunny sack on the back
seat got restless.

1953 I tied 2 gunny sacks across the fender on the back of my bike, went
from Medford to Central point and about collecting bottles, they paid for
new shoes and another better bike. $ 10 was a lot of bottles at 1 cent each.
Did the same later when we lived in Ririe Idaho. I bought some engineer
boots I think the deposit was 2 cents by then. My dad worked on a Mormon
farm, then we moved to Brooks Wyo as farm worker, and on to Yellowstone park
where he got a job with the YP Co.
Genealogy and what they did were things I am trying to learn now so I
can try to find out what my people did .
