carla, i can believe all that. if anyone knew all the stories i have. i can't prove any of them since they are all family rememberances. you could be accurate about some of the smaller communities in the woodburn area. there are so many russians there and they all see to stick togeather except when they sell their produce. i think most of them live in the whiskey hill area. if memory serves, and we are lucky if it does. i need a new memory chip for me. can't remember the size but there is another cem right there which is i believe west of the whiskey hill store and large intersection. i am sure its called zion cem. and i am pretty sure it is or was a very religious one at that. i have yet to have any of thes elderly people intentionally lie to me. when i was researching loudon rd. just out of corbett, i just beat on doors til i found who i was after and he turned into a wealth of info. name was "toot evens" and he had pics that he gave to me and a real historian. in all these areas i have gone to post offices, stores, and peoples front porch. you name it, and i have probably done it.

Hey Gary...just to add another little twist: In the booklet that he prepared for one of the Oregon Bonney family gatherings, Wm. Bonney who was the director of the Washington State Historical Society in Tacoma ca. 1930's noted:
"...Waconda, 'the town that was God'...." I have always wondered what reference he was making. In researching that area though, one finds a number of religious groups forming their own communities ca. 1850's through 1860's. In fact, it was the first stop of Rev. Keil and his party who later moved north to Pacific County, (near Menlo) Washington...this is the father of Willy Keil whose body was brought over the Oregon Trail in a coffin filled with alcohol.
