[or-roots] Canada--Ezra Burkholder

I went home and tried to read my notes and the census I copied at the
archives. My eyes must be a lot worse than they were a few years ago
when I made the copy. I think they only asked about citizenship in the
1910 and 1920 census but am not sure of that. I need to go to the
library and use Heritage quest to look them up again so I can actually
read what it says. If you have access and good eyes maybe you could
read what it says.

When I first started I assumed they were married in Canada and then came
to the states. But after I found these two censuses I realized that she
came here when she was only about 3 years old and he came just after the
civil war so I was able to find their marriage record which was in
Minnesota.

If you do have access to heritage quest and wouldn't mind looking they
are in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 census in Stillwater, Minnesota. Their
names were Daniel Flynn and his wife Catherine (Sometimes, Kate,
sometimes Katherine). Children Edward, Harry George, Genevieve Mary,
Thomas Seldon and Daniel Flynn, Jr.

More investigation may be required. Who were the people that "provide
those documents"? Depending on the year, the docs could be in the
county courthouse, a state office, or even NARA, I suppose.

Why don't you give us the details, and maybe someone can assist.

Oh, I'm leaving Thursday for the Bay Area, where some good basketball
should break out, but between now and then, or when I get home. . . .

I have an ancestor that has the NA in that column and I assumed
it meant Naturalized, but when I tried to obtain the naturalization
papers for that person, using the date, place etc. I was told by the
people that provide those documents that na meant not applicable and
that the person was not naturalized after all.
