First - - - Thank you Sue Steward! You made it very easy to change my
subscription. You did it in such a nice professional manner, that I
actually took time to do it so I could post! Thank you again!

Now what I remember about THE storm. It was the evening/night before my
birthday. Instead of being tucked in awaiting the big day I was up and my
Mother was worrying about my Father. He worked for the Bureau of
Reclamation. All man power was called out to release the water to the
canals in order to prevent flooding. My Father had a great fear of water
(he couldn't swim) but he was out turning the chutes on. (Or off whatever
had to be done!) My Mother had tried to talk him out of going but his
feelings of responsibility to the farmers and the town (Klamath Falls) was
stronger than his fear. The men (and one woman) received recognition for
their efforts! Daddy came in in the wee hours of the morning with the
comment that he would almost rather fight fires!

When he had first left I wasn't really aware of the danger and managed with
my friends to go down the street to the movies.
