Nancy

As I was going to sleep last night it occurred to me that the dates you are looking for may be "wrong".
I've had obits (news, really) that came out on the same day as the death. So, look on the 6th. And,
besides that (tah, tah), are you absolutely, absolutely, sure the death date is correct? (I've had two
Bible records that were three days apart) I'd be checking at least a week on either side.

And, aren't the articles fun? My problem is keeping "on task".

Pat

Pat,
Yea, they are in order. But the 1852 roll was rolled completely backwards (librarian had to fix) & when I
was rolling along first in 1853 then 1852 then 1853 & so on. I got that part figured out now I think. The
1877 microfilm was in perfect order though.

My problem is I go to the date of my ggg-Grandfather's death Sept. 6, 1877 & look at Sept, 7, 8, 9, 10 ..
& so but can't find anything? Maybe his Obit. is not in there. I search way ahead & far ahead. I will be
making many trips to the library & search again..Yes, I need to learn how to go about finding where the
Obits (pages) are then it might work better for me. practice practice practice

Thanks! Nancy

The microfilms should be in some kind of order -- by date? See if you can figure out, by the information
on the outside of the box, what the time frame is.

I don't know of any (easy) way to do this, otherwise. One thing, usually the obits will be on similar
pages from day to day. Once you figure out where that is, maybe you can work faster. Of course, from year
to year that may change, so be careful.

Hi..Need advise,

I requested micro-film from the Knight Library, Eugene, OR. for Oregon Statesman newspapers the years 1852
(when my McCubbins line came to Marion Co., OR and 1877 the year my ggg-Grandfather James McCubbins died.
I went to the Library this am & searched & searched & >>>>. I realize it's not easy finding what you
want, but does any one have a clue on how to approach / search better in these reels of microfilm as I
have 6 to go through & the library keeps them on hand for 2 weeks. What I'm desperately still trying to
find is hopefully & it's a long shot, an Obit. on my ggg-Grandfather James McCubbins who died Sept. 6,
1877 North Salem, Marion Co., OR. Searching for Obit & his grave & getting no where fast. I think in all
the searching I did this am I only found one Obit for someone else.

Thanks! Nancy
