[or-roots] World Wide web

I believe that often it is a mailing address that they may be referring to even though they are not born in a town. I know that is true in my case, I was born at home in the country and our mail came out of one town even though we lived closer to another town. My birth certificate shows the town that was considered our mailing address.

I also know that my mother said she was born in Hope, Arkansas even though she was born in a small community area called Holly Grove outside Hope but the mailing address was Hope.

Linda, I was reading through these or-roots messages and saw that you are from Junction City, Oregon. I have a gr. grandmother named Mary Catherine Graves b. abt 1856, who has listed Junction City, Or as her birthplace. I assumed it was correct, but never found any birth records for her. Then I found several references to her being born in Benton Co. Or. Seemed correct, but I still wonder why she is repeatedly saying she was born in J.C. Would you be able to look for maybe a birth announcement for the local newspaper? Sometimes I find that they were indeed born in a city, but that is not where they lived, so the announcement is listed later where they actually lived. Her parents are James & Melvina Graves.

I am living near Seattle, WA.

  Thanking you in advance.

  In a message dated 1/31/06 9:44:44 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, Kith-n-Kin at cox.net writes:

The good thing is that someone else may find that same obscure reference, and find you! and be just the person with all the information! :)

That is exactly why I stay with AOL in spite of all the bad comments.

I occasionally get a response to something I posted in 1997 or 1998.

If I change my email address, I would never get those.
