[or-roots] Brickwalls redux

I have to echo the comments about not giving up an reposting. I have spent
over 25 years researching a group of women who owned a garnet mine in
Alaska. In the past month, NEW information has come to light because of a
simple and fun contest that the NorCal list did on "who you'd like to meet
from the past" which got the person in charge of the contest thinking...and
digging...and finding some great information on the Pan Pacific
International Expo for me. I have no idea how many times I have posted to
the NorCAL list and the SanFran list about the women and the PPIE over the
past 15 months. And then just a few weeks ago I had the information I was
seeking. No photos of the actual booth they were in, but some great photos
and a map.

I have the basic information on a web site and that has also led people to
me. In fact, the most recent big find (besides the PPIE info) was from a
lady who is researching women architects. One of the women she is
researching designed the booth for t"my" garnet women at the PPIE in 1915.
She has been looking for information on the women but couldn't find
anything. As luck would have it, a librarian did a search online and came
up with my web site. I now have TWO articles on the women and their garnet
mine that I didn't know existed simply because this person was researching
in California for the architect and came across those articles. The neat
thing is that there are photos of the women and their mine. Just when I
think I can wrap up this project, I get more information!

This list has also been helpful as some of the people connected to the women
had connections in Oregon. So don't be afraid to repost every once in a
while. You never know who is lurking out there. Les is right; sometimes we
get busy and don't have time to do a search at the time of the posting and
sometimes I have figured that someone smarter than me will have done
something already. :-)
