Ronda;
I believe that is a pay site only, possibly it is available at a library or
some such for free;
http://www.citydirectory.com/Common/SubscribeNow.aspx?bas_vendor=99990
too bad the address in question wasn't in Lane County, I have a 1958
directory that provides maps of all the mail routes in Lane county, I
contacted the publisher to ask if I could post the maps online and didn't
get a reply.

Thank you Mimi,
I was wondering what Polk County had to do with the requests. Where do you
find the online directories?

The Polk City Directories have nothing to do with Polk County, Oregon! That
is the name of the company that has done city directories throughout the
United States for years and years. Many of these directories are searchable
online now.
The request for the lookup said the family lived on Fisher Road in Salem.
That is definitely in Marion County, not the Polk County part of Salem (West
Salem).
I know that the Salem Public Library has many, many old Salem city
directories on their shelves. You might just try sending a request to their
reference librarian and ask her to look it up for you. They do that all the
time. Go to the Salem Public Library web site (you can find it on Google)
and click on reference question - there is a form there to fill out and
submit by
e-mail. Mimi Stang
