I was also born in the Library. My mom said she got to stay in the hall
because there were no rooms. My little brother was born in the NEW
facility.
Durlams Bakery made the cake each year, but they used California
strawberries because they could not count on the local ones being ripe in
time. Do you remember the merry-go-round that came in with the carnival. I
actually got old enough to ride the horses that moved up and down before it
quit coming.
We lived on the highway that goes to Sweet Home. [My nephew has the place
now.] We went to Crowfoot. They have closed it now. Seems a shame. Of
course it was OLD when my family started there in the early 50s.
Lets rephrase that. I went to Crowfoot. My sister went to Crowfoot,
Waterloo, then back to Crowfoot. Little Brother started at Crowfoot then
spent the rest of grade school at Waterloo. His friends from the
neighborhood stayed at Crowfoot. It seemed to be just where the house was
located.
Are we getting old? We now remember history.
I notice that you are also on the dry side now.

> Hello Barbra, yes it was some time ago, now you can get an idea of how old
I am. There was also a Dr Pollard and Dr Blachard in Lebanon. My younger
brother and sister were born in the 'now Lebanon Library' when it was the
Hospital. I started primary grade school at Greenacres, then went to the two
room school at Griggs befor we moved to Scio, on the old Shelburn Rd. I
remember the old pioneer buildings there that now you only see in photos at
the Salem Public Historical on line photo library. Oh yes and the year was
not complete unless you attended the annual Lebanon Strawberry Festival and
had some of that strawberry shortcake! It is interesting to see how the
Valley has grown and changed over the years. Mary in The Dalles
