My family line is the John and Nancy Shaw......they had a son Harvey who also moved with them to the Walla Walla area.......According to the family history
<<<Young Harvey Shaw did some gold mining in Southern Oregon and farmed.
Then in 1861 he went to Eastern Washington, Walla Walla, area. From there he
and Frank Lowden ran a packed train from Old Wallula to the kootaney area,
bring supplies to the mining camps in Idaho. In 1864 William took his family
and moved to Summerville area near La Grand, Oregon. Mary Ann and "Cooper"
John also set out eastward and settled with their family on Butter Creek, near
Echo, Oregon, Umatilla area. In 1869, Harvey bought acreage west of Prescott, on the Touchet River,
which grew into a spread of 2200 acres. Following Harvey, John and Nancy left
Douglas County in 1870, and bought land seven miles from Dayton, Washington ----- >>
Carolyn Shaw married Philip Numbers, they had 3 daughters.....Sarah Melinda Numbers married Orren Howard ........they are my gggrandparents.

Thanks,
Most of this looks good, except the first one with Mary as a wife and none of the kids match up to what I am aware of. I know that the Shaw's moved to eastern Oregon at some point and then ended up in Washington. In the 1880 census John and Nancy are found in Walla Walla along with a Henry Shaw whose father was b: VA mother b: OH which matches John and Nancy. But I have also seen his name as Harvey instead of Henry so it could be either one.
As for Elizabeth and Frank, he was definitely her second husband and Nehemiah was the first. It looks like the last one has the most information and is probably the most accurate.
Now I have more work to do.
Dale

Here is what a quick search of Ancestry showed. Got the siblings, and got Marion and Adeline to 1860 Douglas County, but that's about it.
Also, here are some others researching this line.

About a week or so ago, someone, I can't remember who, suggested that we post the names of people we are researching in Oregon. I have so many that I decided to start with the hardest and only do about one a week.
Here goes:
I am trying to find out anything and everything I can about the family of John William Shaw. What I do know about him is that he was born in Virginia on Jan. 9, 1797 and that he moved to Ohio sometime, probably with his parents. He married Harriet (Nancy) Harris in Ohio and then they moved to Illinois. I know of at least two children that they had but I think there were probably more. One was Elizabeth Shaw b: ca 1823 in Ohio and she married Nehemiah Northrup on Jan. 28, 1841 in Illinois. Elizabeth had two children before her husband died. They were Adeline Northrup and Marion Northrup.
The Shaw's came to Douglas County, Oregon in the early 1850's. Elizabeth married Francis Marion Vliet in Oregon and then she died shortly afterwards.
Adeline married Stanford Howell and had at least 12 children in Oregon. My mysteries are: what happened to Marion Northrup and who were Stanford Howell's parents? Also, of course any thing else about the Shaw's that anyone would know. John and Nancy died in 1888 in Walla Walla at the ages of 91 and 87.
Thanks for anything I get.
