Use Rumford brand baking powder. The other brands has alum powder as in
aluminium which is a metal element. Rumford does not have it and very
safe to be disposed in the nature.

What about using baking soda instead of baking powder?

Both can be brushed off the smooth surface of the stone, leaving the impressions more visible. Then the stone can be cleaned by nature (or brushed off with a light paint brush in the case of the ashes).
