[or-roots] Need a look up in 1930 census

Judy,

You may have missed my earlier post with 'what' info I have. It isn't much,
more a shot in the dark. In the sixties this family only claimed the
father's (Kathleen's husband) Irish history. With the 'new' attitude toward
Native Americans, the inside the home stories are leaking out. Each child
has a different twist. Here is my original post. Linage is Kathleen > son >
daughter (the child I'm trying to help) The information is from the
son(father)'s baby book.

I am trying to help a friend learn a bit about their history. Their mother
was supposedly Native American.

She was born

Kathleen Patricia Shepard

25 Jul 1925

Cottage Grove, Oregon

Her parents were

Homer Glen Shepard

Ada Ruth Blanchette

Can anyone help me?

Viola Rae (STACEY) Kassing

You don't state what tribe or where the family lived. What have you done to
research this family? It looks like you are saying she is 3 generations
removed from Kathleen, and that would reduce her blood quantum to 1/8 or
1/16, which in many tribes would not qualify her for membership.

Please provide more infromation and maybe I can help you.

The family stories have Kathleen being of Native American descent. (1/2) Her
granddaughter's mother (who was killed in 1984) is supposed to have some
Native American history. If I can prove enough, both the granddaughter and
her brother can apply for help with their education!

The granddaughter would be thrilled to have the knowledge to pass on to her
descendents. She is a one in a million girl that anyone would be proud to
claim. She is the daughter of my heart!!!

Viola;

I asked my Sister in law who is in the Cottage Grove Historical society to
see if she can come up with anything. Is there any specific information you
are looking for?
