Glen, perhaps we will meet at the book release of Oregon 150. My
family is also portrayed in the book. Our original settlers, Philip
and Mary Pettygrove Foster, arrived in Oregon May 1843 via ship from a
6-month layover in the Sandwich Isles. The originated from Maine.
They settled in Eagle Creek where their daughter Lucy married Josiah Burnett in
1857, an Oregon Trail emigrant of 1853. Oregon history has long been
an important part of my life and I'm hoping to pass it on to my grandson who
just won the grade 5-8 essay contest at the Sons & Daughters of Oregon
Pioneers annual banquet last month. Keeping the stories and history going
to future generations can be our legacy.

Died Coming to Town
Nina Louise Lydell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lydell,
died Sunday evening while the family was coming to Enterprise from their home
near Imnaha. When the family started from their home in the morning the child
seemed to be in its usual health but on the way the child was taken violently
ill and before medical aid could be reached died in the wagon.
The little girl was two years and three months old. Short funeral services
were held at the Enterprise cemetery where the body was laid away Monday
afternoon.

Hi, Nancy,
Name
Birth
Death
LYDALL, CHAS
Jul 31, 1913
Apr 01, 1980
Last residence: 97828 (Enterprise, Wallowa,
OR)
Last benefit: 97828 (Enterprise, Wallowa,
OR)
Does this look like anything? It's from Obitfinder
which is helpful for searches from deaths occurring between 1930-2009. I also
use the LDS Family Search, especially the pilot Search from the search drop
down menu and this site is great too: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/or/county/wallowa/index.htm.
I shy away from commercial sites. At the Library is Heritage Quest and they
also may have World Vital Records free with a library card. The LDS Family
history centers are a great resource too. I've got some other favorites but
they're not coming to mind. I've started right clicking site addresses from
the address bar and dropping them onto my desktop because my favorites list is
out of control even with category buckets. Pages of maybe interest I put into
folders in My Documents for offline work and to save trees and
toner.
Have Fun!
Ingrid
