Regarding the Hawthorne Asylum, I can't remember if everyone was done with this topic, or if this was discussed in detail, but the Oregon State Archives has a white binder with photocopied pages about "Mental Health and Developmental Disability Services Division, Administrative Overview that refers to Hawthorne Asylum, AKA "Oregon Hospital for the Insane." There are copies of handwritten lists of males and females who were transferred from Hawthorne Asylum to the new hospital. "In October of 1883, 372 patients were transferred from the Hawthorne Asylum to the new asylum" (state hospital for the insane in Salem). Maybe this was already covered...
