iREAD 2023: Summer Reading Planning Resources

Summer is fast approaching and most libraries have already started their planning for summer reading. iREAD would like to highlight some helpful resources available to all libraries participating in iREAD. These resources can be either found in the 2023 iREAD Resource Guide or posted on the iREAD webpage.

You can view all graphics available for the 2023 theme in one spot and plan how you would like to use them. Check part one of your Resource Guide PDF files and look for chapter 06_2023 Graphics Preview - pages 301-334. Once you have selected the graphics you would like to use, head over to the actual graphics folder to obtain the images. This will save you time in planning and coordinating without having to open multiple file folders to view each image.

  *   iREAD has also developed iREAD 2023: Find Your Voice! Your submissions can include photos with brief descriptions, copy of your newsletter where you promote your library's plans for summer reading or a short paragraph describing your ideas and planning process.

Note: If your photos feature any library staff or patrons, make sure that you have obtained a photo release before emailing the photo to us.

iREAD 2023: Find Your Voice!
Children's Book Collection

Our summer reading participants will have an opportunity to use their voices to help build our children's book collection. We'll be asking them to share and discuss their favorite books, favorite genres, favorite characters, etc. This feedback will determine many of the books we order for the children's section. A note will be included in the front covers indicating that the books were chosen with assistance from the 2023 Summer Reading Kids. The group will be invited back to see a display of all the books we ordered based on their suggestions!

About the Program
Since 1981, iREAD has developed successful summer reading programs.
