SUMMARY OF POSITION:The incumbent serves as a Contract Archaeologist
for CIBER, Incorporated.  The incumbent will work within the Bonneville
Power Administration (BPA), which is part of the United States
Department of Energy, alongside Federal employees and other employees of
CIBER, Incorporated.  As a Contract Archaeologist, the incumbent
functions as a cultural resource specialist, working with BPA
archaeologists and other contract archeologists along with project
environmental leads for BPA Transmission Services operations and
maintenance and new construction activities, as well as for the Fish and
Wildlife Mitigation Program and its associated projects.  The primary
purpose of this position is to provide professional knowledge in the
inventory, evaluation, protection, and management of prehistoric and
historic resources, primarily through field work throughout the Pacific
Northwest.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Ø     Works with the lead archaeologists for fish and wildlife
mitigation projects and transmission services projects to prioritize
workload and projects.
 
Ø     Recommends the appropriate extent of cultural resource
inventories needed for a wide variety of project proposals and conducts
inventories, which may include conducting background research, field
survey, and/or limited subsurface testing.  
 
Ø     Provides recommendations regarding the eligibility of cultural
resources for the National Register of Historic Places. 
 
Ø     Participates as a team member in preparing NEPA documents,
identifying special cultural resource considerations, and potential
impacts to cultural resources.
 
Ø     Advises on compliance with relevant statutes and their
accompanying regulations including the National Historic Preservation
Act (NHPA), Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act
(NAGPRA), the Archeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), the
American Indian Religious Freedom Act (AIRFA) and NEPA.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 
Ø     Must possess a Bachelor's degree in archeology, anthropology, or
closely related field plus: 
o        At least one year of full-time professional experience or
equivalent specialized training in archeological research,
administration or management; 
o        At least six months of supervised field and analytic
experience in Columbia River Basin archeology, and 
o        Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion. 
Ø     Must be able to pass background security clearance.
Ø     Must have valid drivers license.
