Terry Ozbun, a Senior Archaeologist and Lithic Technology Specialist with Archaeological Investigations Northwest, Inc. (AINW) will be the speaker at the Oregon Archaeological Society meeting held on the first Tuesday in December. His talk will focus on the re-examination of technological traits associated with Cascade points. Lithic analysis data from Marmes Rockshelter, Cascadia Cave, Sunset Ridge, and other sites reveal shared technological strategies linking ancient hunters across Old Cordillera.

On both sides of the Pacific Northwest Cascade Range cordillera, early Holocene archaeological sites commonly contain "leaf-shaped" projectile points; analysis has shown that this type of point was used widely for several millennia. While archaeologists tend to emphasize the outline shape in assigning projectile points to the Cascade type, the original type definitions include references to manufacturing technology.

Ozbun is an expert in lithic analysis and research, a noted author and lecturer on lithic technology, and a skilled flintknapper. The presentation is at OMSI, 7:45 PM, and is free and open to the public. The talk is preceded at 7 PM by a general business meeting, which is also open to the public.
