The Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS) with co-sponsors Portland Community College and the Washington County Museum will again be offering classes about archaeologic excavation basics and history of the Pacific Northwest.

The classes are taught by experienced regional professionals from organizations, such as the National Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the University of Oregon.

Classes will be held on consecutive Saturdays beginning January 29, 2011 and running through March 12, 2011 at the Rock Creek campus of PCC.

The first two sessions will be devoted to history; the last four sessions will cover archaeology basics and include field excavation, laboratory methods, site mapping, cataloging, compass reading, and how to get involved in the field.

Class size is limited on the last 4 weeks. The entire 6 week package is $90 for non-members.

See www.oregonarchaeological.org to sign up and for further information on costs; or call Steve at 503-824-2264.
