There will be a talk on, and a book signing for, "Imprisoned in
Paradise: Japanese Internee Road Workers at the World War II Kooskia
Internment Camp," by Priscilla Wegars (AACC, 2010), Paperback, $19.95.

Portland, OR, Thursday, May 12, 2011, 5:00 p.m., for the Oregon Nikkei
Legacy Center; program will take place at the Northwest Evaluation
Association, 121 NW Everett. Hosted by the Oregon Nikkei Endowment and
sponsored by Oregon Humanities.

Idaho's Kooskia Internment Camp was located on Highway 12 on the Lochsa
River in north central Idaho. Between mid-1943 and mid-1945 the camp
held an all-male contingent totaling some 265 so-called "enemy aliens"
of Japanese ancestry. Most came from 21 states and 2 territories, but
others were from Mexico; some were even kidnapped from Panama and Peru.
Eight of the internees were from Oregon, and this illustrated PowerPoint
presentation will include images of them, and of materials recovered
during the 2010 archaeological excavations at the Kooskia Internment
Camp site.

All author's royalties benefit the University of Idaho's Asian American
Comparative Collection, <http://www.uiweb.uidaho.edu/LS/AACC/>.
