Howdy Folks,

I'm noticing a significant slow down in performance while adding Annotation in ArcGIS10 using the Annotation Construction Window. The response to typing into the window seems to slow down over a short period of time. I mean that, initially it does work fine, typing in to the window more or less in real time. But after maybe 50 to 100 entries it is noticeably slower until eventually reaching the point where after you type your Annotation into the window it can take up to 20 seconds for it to respond and be ready to be placed on the map. I could not find this issue documented anywhere on ESRI's forums and am wondering if it is specific to our set up?

We have 10 installed on two machines here and they both have this issue. The only solution I have found is to restart my .mxd. There are some workarounds but I think the most efficient work flow would be to use the Annotation Construction Window if possible.

Any ideas on what could cause this gradual slow down? I'm curious that the performance seems to be related to the amount of anno added during, not just an edit session, but until the .mxd is closed?
