New Boating Access at Gerber Reservoir

Anglers and water skiers in Klamath County have probably noticed some changes at the South Gerber Campground on Gerber Reservoir. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) through Klamath County, in cooperation with the Oregon State Marine Board, has been installing a new boat ramp that will provide access to South Gerber Reservoir.

This new access site provides an excellent opportunity for boaters to enjoy this resource. BLM acquired a grant from the Oregon State Marine Board to build a new boat ramp, install boarding floats, add parking area and a place a vault restroom. Unfortunately due to the unpredictable weather and changing water levels, the ramp and floats were not quite completed. BLM realizes that the current ramp is not long enough and they are asking boaters to be patient. The ramp extension should be completed this fall or winter depending on water levels. In addition to the ramp extension, the self-adjusting boarding floats will be installed.

There are also two other launch ramps on Gerber Reservoir that are open this year. They are the North Gerber Campground and Barnes Valley. If you have any questions about the South Gerber Campground or any other boating facility on Gerber Reservoir please call the BLM office at 541-883-6916.
