Douglas County to Receive Boating Facility Grant

Douglas County will receive a financial boost through a grant
awarded to Salmon Harbor. The Oregon State Marine Board recently
approved over 3.2 million in boating facility grants, statewide.
Salmon Harbor applied for, and was awarded a grant to pave the
existing gravel parking area, construct curbs, stripe parking stalls and
directional signage and manage storm water runoff. The requested
parking improvements are the final phase of planned improvements that
previously included a new flush restroom and multi-lane launch ramp and
new boarding floats. This new parking area will improve parking and
circulation, making the process of launching much more efficient. The
Board approved $320,000 in state boater funds combined with $100,000 of
applicant cash and $11,000 of in-kind contributions for a project total
of $431,000.
