First Ever Event to Celebrate National Marina Day

August 8th is just around the corner! Come celebrate with Portland-area
Clean Marina’s for the first event of its kind, to commemorate
National Marina Day.

How? All you need is to sign up, load your boat with friends and
family, and cruise around to designated locations to pick up a playing
card. The eight participating marinas will also showcase how they
earned their “Clean Marina” distinction, and what they do to be
“green and clean,” to help preserve our waterways and boating
lifestyles.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with a breakfast hosted by the Fort
Vancouver Sail and Power Squadron at the newly constructed Waterside
Marina on Hayden Island next to the Red Lion Hotel. After a quick
briefing following breakfast at 9:30 a.m., participants will have from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to complete the designated course and arrive at the
poker run headquarters to check-in. Participants will then gather
between 4:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., where the best poker hand wins! There
will be other giveaway items and prizes. At 5 p.m., the BBQ begins,
followed by the cool sounds of Stephanie Schneiderman, at the Columbia
Crossings summer stage.

All of this activity, fun and entertainment for a minimal price! The
registration fee is $35 per boat and that includes one poker hand, one
breakfast ticket, two tickets to the dinner BBQ and entry to the live
music event for skipper and crew. Additional breakfast and dinner
tickets are $5 each. Boaters can purchase additional poker hands for $20
each.

Participating Clean Marinas include: Jantzen Bay Marina, Tomahawk Bay
Marina, Portland Yacht Club, Rose City Yacht Club, Pier 99 Marina,
Waterside Marina, McCuddy’s Island Marina and the McCuddy’s Marine
Drive Marina. Sponsors include: The National Safe Boating Council, Boat
U.S. Foundation, Norma’s Kitchen, Licensed massage therapist, James
Dudder, Sexton Chandlery, Beaches Restaurant, Hidden Bay Café, Hayden
Island Canvas and West Marine.
