Clatsop County to Receive Five Boating Facility Grants

	The cities of Warrenton, Astoria and Seaside, as well as Clatsop
County and Port of Astoria will receive a financial boost through grants
awarded for multiple boating access projects.  The Oregon State Marine
Board approved over $3.2 million in boating facility grants, five of
which are in Clatsop County. 
	Clatsop County applied for, and was awarded, a grant to replace
the existing courtesy dock on Cullaby Lake.  This grant will provide for
the purchase and installation of three flat pods, two steel piles,
gangway and abutment.  The Board approved $49,240 in state boater funds
combined with $28,760 in applicant match and $3,201 in-kind
contributions for a project total of $81,201.
	The City of Warrenton applied for, and was awarded, a grant to
improve overflow parking at the Hammond boat basin.  This grant will
prepare the site for eventual paving, make drainage improvements,
install six lights, poles and electric lines, curbing, wheel stops,
signs, a sidewalk and gravel.  The Board approved $170,000 in state
boater funds combined with $20,000 in applicant match, $20,000 in
applicant in-kind contributions for a total cost of $210,000.
	The City of Astoria applied for, and was awarded a grant to
repair damaged transient tie-up floats and repair the protective
breakwater at the 17th Street Transient Tie-Up in downtown Astoria. 
This grant will pay for the repair and redeployment of concrete float
pods and replace missing boards on the breakwater.  The Board approved
$64,791 in state boater funds combined with $22,500 of applicant match,
and $5,000 in applicant in-kind contributions for a total cost of
$92,291.
	The Port of Astoria was also awarded, a grant for a portable
pumpout for the Port’s East Basin.  The portable pumpout will be able
to service boats that cannot access the West Basin pumpout and can also
serve as a backup when the West Basin pumpout is out of service.  The
Board approved $3,281 in state boater funds combined with $375 of
applicant contributions and $9,844 in Clean Vessel Act funds for a
project total of $13,500.
	The City of Seaside applied for, and was awarded, a grant to
replace the existing gangway leading to the city docks at Quatat Park. 
The grant will pay for the disposal of the old gangway and the cost of
purchasing and installing a new 40-foot gangway.  The Board approved
$6,495 in state boater funds combined with $6,495 in applicant match for
a project total of $12,990.
