Marine Board Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Rules for Cheadle Lake
The Oregon State Marine Board seeks written public comment on a proposed electric-motor-only rule on Cheadle Lake in Benton County.
Cheadle Lake was at one time a private log pond but is now available for public use under management by the City of Lebanon. The City is developing the waterway into a recreation area suitable for fishing and boating activities. Because Cheadle Lake is shallow and experiences fluctuating water levels, the City of Lebanon requested an electric- motor-only rule for powerboats. If an electric-motor-only rule is adopted, the lake would be open to paddle craft, sail and electric motorboats.
Written comments will be accepted until November 30 at 5 p.m. Comments may be submitted by maile to June LeTarte, OSMB, PO Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309; by email to osmb.rulemaking at state.or.us; or by fax to (503) 378-4597. Telephone comments will not be accepted.
