For Immediate Release                                                     Date: Monday, October 11, 2010 Marine Board Meeting in Bend October 18, 19
 
            The Oregon State Marine Board is meeting in Bend on October 18 and 19 in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Post Season Conference.  Board members and staff will participate in a work session from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, October 18.  The general Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 19 at 8:30 a.m.  The public is invited to attend both sessions. 
            On Tuesday, the Board will consider adopting a permanent speed restriction on the Miller Arm of Siltcoos Lake in Lane County and a two year closure on the North Santiam River around Minto Dam due to construction at the Corps of Engineer’s Minto Adult Fish Collection Facility in Marion County. 
            The Board will also hear requests to begin rulemaking for:
·         A 100 foot slow-no-wake zone around the newly completed Foothills Park transient dock on the Willamette River near Lake Oswego, and;
·         A wake enhancing device restriction for Holgate Channel with a slow-no-wake zone for the south end of the channel.
·         Modify the language for alcohol breath testing equipment by removing the reference to a specific breath testing instrument.  
·         Allow more purchasing options for boaters with the aquatic invasive species prevention permit program.
            The meetings will be held at the Riverhouse, 3075 N. Hwy. 97 and are accessible to persons with disabilities.  Persons needing some form of assistance to participate in these meetings due to a disability should contact June LeTarte at 503-378-2617 by Friday, October 15.  Persons wishing to address the Board on non-agenda items may do so during the designated period at the start of the October 19 meeting.###
