Temporary Rule Taking Effect on Dexter Reservoir

                The Oregon State Marine Board filed a temporary rule for a slow-no-wake zone on Dexter Dam Reservoir from the Covered Bridge to the west shore that takes effect from 3 p.m. Friday April 8, noon on Sunday, April 11, 2011 in support of the junior, collegiate, and master rowing events planned.  The Marine Board filed this temporary rule to ensure safety at this large competition.
                The Oregon Association of Rowers is hosting the Rowing Regatta and anticipates 500 competitors from several states to participate.  Rowing shells have very little freeboard above the water and are susceptible to swamping from other boats.  The Lane County marine patrol personnel are involved with the safety watch for these events to ensure all boaters adhere to boating laws and that all recreationists are safe.
