Marine Board Approves Grant for Wallowa Lake Boating Facility Improvements

            The Oregon State Marine Board approved a grant for much-needed boating facility improvements on Wallowa Lake on June 27 at their quarterly meeting held in Sisters, OR.
                The county applied for, and received, a grant to chip seal the existing parking lot and renovate the boarding floats.  The Board approved $41,000 in state boater funds combined with $19,000 of in-kind contributions for a project total of $60,000.  Work is scheduled to begin during the week of July 13.
                Wallowa Lake is among the top 50 most-used waterbodies in Oregon.  Fishing is the most popular activity among boaters, but other boating activities also prove popular, such as cruising, waterskiing, and PWC operation.
