Marine Board Approves Grant to Port of Arlington

                The Oregon State Marine Board approved a grant request from the Port of Arlington on June 27 at their quarterly meeting held in Sisters, OR.
The Port applied for and received a grant to replace the marina ramp and boarding floats.  The Board approved $226, 259 in state boater funds combined with $18,656 of in-kind contributions and $25,000 in applicant cash for a project total of $269,915.
The existing ramp is a concrete, plank-style, split into two sections by boarding floats, making the launch lanes extremely narrow.  The surface of the ramp has broken planks, the existing floats have reached the end of their useful life, and the piles need to be replaced.  The Port has received the necessary permits and anticipates construction beginning in the winter.
The Oregon State Marine Board is funded entirely by user fees, and the revenue generated from the fees goes back to boaters in the form of boating facility improvements, law enforcement services, and education and outreach.
