Marine Board Approves Grant to City of Keizer

The Oregon State Marine Board approved a grant for a new boating access site for the City of Keizer on June 27 at their quarterly meeting held in Sisters, OR.
The City applied for, and received a grant to construct a new boating facility including a one-lane concrete boat ramp, boarding floats, asphalt access road, pre-fabricated vault toilet and a paved parking area. The Board approved $50,000 in state boater funds combined with $85,000 of in-kind contributions and $250,000 in applicant cash, and $700,000 in federal Sport Fish Restoration Funds, administered by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The total cost for the project is $1,085.000.
Development of a new boating facility at Keizer Rapids Park will open a stretch of the Willamette River that is currently inaccessible except to local waterfront residents with boats or during higher water flows in the winter and spring.
The Oregon State Marine Board is funded entirely by user fees, and the revenue generated from the fees goes back to boaters in the form of boating facility improvements, law enforcement services, and education and outreach.
