Marine Board Approves Grant for ODFW Boating Access Site on Siletz River

The Oregon State Marine Board approved a grant for permitting of a new pole slide at Ojalla Bridge on the Siletz River in Lincoln County, on June 27 at their quarterly meeting held in Sisters, OR.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife applied for, and received a grant for permitting assistance of an improved public access site to the lower Siletz River.  The Siletz River is a popular coastal river and public access to the lower river is limited.  An existing informal access site exists at the Ojalla Bridge.  ODFW is working with Lincoln County to take over managing the proposed new boat launch facility.
The Board approved $10,000 in state boater funds combined with $11,780 of in-kind contributions and $5,000 in other cash, for a project total of $26,780.
The Oregon State Marine Board is funded entirely by user fees, and the revenue generated from the fees goes back to boaters in the form of boating facility improvements, law enforcement services, and education and outreach.
