Marine Board Recognizes Trooper with Top Honor

[cid:image008.jpg at 01CC7EB6.ECBDA160]               The Oregon State Marine Board recognized the efforts of Trooper Josh Nugent of the Oregon State Police (OSP) Southwest Region in Central Point, at their annual post-season Law Enforcement Conference, held on Monday, September 26 in Eugene.  Trooper Nugent was recognized for his significant contributions during their first year in the Marine Program.
            Trooper Nugent came to the OSP Fish and Wildlife Division last fall as a recruit and attended the Marine Board's 2011 Marine Law Enforcement Academy.  Trooper Nugent embraced the marine training and his new assignment and quickly imprinted himself as an integral part of the marine enforcement team and extended his presence on nearly a dozen waterbodies in the region.  Because of his broad presence, boaters have contacted the area command station to compliment Trooper Nugent's demeanor as being both professional and pleasant.  Trooper Nugent's positive attitude and his work ethic when making boater contacts has helped fulfill both the Oregon State Police's Southwest Region and Marine Board's goals of educating boaters to help keep everyone safe on the water.
            "You've helped enhance the quality of safety, service and outreach," said Marty Law, Boating Safety Manager for the Marine Board. "Thank you for all the effort you've put into what you do out there."
