Marine Board Approves Adoption of Four Rules for Boaters, Service Providers

               The Oregon State Marine Board approved the adoption of four rules at their quarterly Board meeting held on April 11 in Springfield.
The Board approved adopting rules for OAR 250 Division 014, Maintenance Assistance Program (MAP) to provide a small increase in funds to participants by modifying the adjustment in annual payments based on fees charged at participating sites.
            The Board also approved a temporary slow-no-wake zone and closure on the Willamette River for the Sellwood Bridge construction project.  The adopted rule will sunset on
December 30, 2015 when the construction is expected to be completed.
            The Board approved amended language for the Holgate Channel on the Willamette River, OAR 250-020-0280, to remove the exemption for commercial passenger vessels under 100 gross tons and clarifying the Board's current practice of exempting federal documented vessels from state title and numbering requirements.
            The final rule adoption pertains to OAR 250-010-0440, Boating Under the Influence of Intoxicants to include training in the operation of approved breath test equipment for individuals qualified under OAR 250-010-0440.  The Oregon State Police or the Marine Board will provide a course of instruction as outlined in OAR 257-030-0160.
